Walter McFarlane
For U.S. Congress
I’m running because I still do believe that America is that “shining city on a hill” that Ronald Reagan spoke about. And I truly believe her best days are still ahead. I believe that the American spirit is as strong as ever and that, at our core, we are united, despite the noise on the extremes.

Meet Walter McFarlane
Commonsense Conservative. Proven Leader. Job Creator.
Born and raised in the greater Manchester area, the Granite State has formed who and what I am. I was fortunate to receive a first-rate education, graduating from Trinity High School, Georgetown University with Bachelor of Business Administration, and Canisius College with a Master of Business Administration.
After finishing my degrees, I enjoyed a successful 25-year business career with both privately and publicly held companies. Many of those years have been spent as a Chief Financial Officer. Through my employment, consulting and due diligence work, and board service, I possess a wealth of experience across dozens of industries including manufacturing, construction and development, social media, and even professional sports.
I’m running because I still do believe that America is that “shining city on a hill”, with her best days still ahead of her. I’m running because I believe that the American spirit is as strong as ever and that, at our core, we are united, despite the noise on the extremes. And I intend to give voice to normalcy and find a way to scream for the 80% of us that aren’t on the extremes. I’m running because I believe that good government is small government, and that our party needs to return to working on the things that do belong under the purview of government, while leaving those that don’t to kitchen tables, houses of worship, and doctor’s offices. I’m running because I believe New Hampshire gets it right, and I want to take a Granite State mindset to Washington.

Priorities
I share below a brief summary of my views on many of the issues of the day. But real life and real society is complex and nuanced. Most issues are interrelated and decisions on one issue affect another. One can’t discuss defense or foreign affairs without talking about national debt. One can’t discuss guns, drugs, or homelessness without talking about mental health. One can’t talk about prescription drug costs without talking about corporate profitability and innovation. And one can’t discuss healthcare without talking about taxes or what government should and shouldn’t mandate. We can’t fix one thing or anything without consequences to another.
Rebuilding a Strong Economy
Our economic engine is our strength. I’m committed to ridding our nation of burdensome and unnecessary regulations, making sensible investments in infrastructure and education, aggressively fighting inflation, and ensuring your hard-earned money remains in your family’s budget not in Congress’.
Securing Our Borders
As the grandson of an immigrant, I support LEGAL immigration. However, I recognize our immigration system is broken. We must close the border, utilize technology to protect it, and end catch and release. Only then can we take the necessary steps to fix the immigration system, opening the doors to those who would be productive members of our economy and society.
LOWERING NATIONAL DEBT
Our national debt poses a greater threat to our national security than China or Russia or terrorism or cyber warfare. Because without financial security we cannot adequately defend against any of those threats. It’s time we shrink the size of government, pay our bills, and ensure Congress operates within a budget – the same way families across the Granite State live every single day.
Keeping Communities Safe
We must continue to support law enforcement and get tough on crime, but we cannot ignore the underlying realities that lead to increased crime. We must focus on building a world-class education system for our children, a robust economy to foster opportunity for all, strong mental healthcare, and substance abuse prevention.
SECURING OUR ELECTIONS
There has been doubt cast on our elections and as leaders, it’s our job to restore that trust. We should institute Voter ID laws nationwide, ensure only American citizens can vote, and institute changes that create transparency and instill trust in the voting process.
Abortion
I believe all life comes from God and is precious. But that is a moral and religious belief. I do not believe that the government has a role in this discussion before the point of viability. And it should have absolutely no role at any time when the health of the mother is in jeopardy.
